January is ‘Jump Out of Bed Month’! Despite the fact that January sometimes feels more like ‘Stay in Bed Month’, this designation makes some sense. First of all, it’s the start of a new year, time for fresh beginnings, time to revisit your plans. Where’s your life going? Are you excited about your future? Do you find your current prospects energizing; do they make you want to jump out of bed? If the answer to this last question is no, you need to take a trip down to the Career Resource Library (CRL) – virtually or physically. We want to help you create a life that you love. We have career librarians and career resources that can help you discover what it is you want to do, and how to go about making that happen.
So get up your energy, jump out of bed, and do the things that will lead you to a life you find inspiring and fulfilling.
Here are a few CRL offerings that might get you started:
CRL Books on Career Exploration:
How to find your mission in life, by Richard Nelson Bolles, 2005.
Do what you are, by Paul Tieger, 2007.
Careers for nonconformists : a practical guide to finding and developing a career outside the mainstream, by Sandra Gurvis, 2000.
Roadtrip nation : find your path in life, Mike Marriner, 2006.
CRL Books on Women and Careers:
Composing a life, by Mary Catherine Bateson, 2001.
The boss of you : everything a woman needs to know to start, run, and maintain her own business, by Lauren Bacon, 2008.
Inventing the rest of our lives : women in second adulthood, by Suzanne Braun Levine, 2005.
