Mission | Staff | Location | Hours

The GSLIS collection consists of approximately 26,000 monographs, 515 current journal subscriptions, 11,000 bound journal volumes, access to approximately 200 online databases as well 34,000 electronic journals. It is the largest library of its kind in New England and collects materials on the topics of library science, information science, bibliography, publishing, and related fields. The library is committed to serving as New England's library "of record" for the library and information science profession. To this end, a collection of both historic and current materials is maintained.

Major Library & Information Science resources are housed on Level I in the Library. We also provide collections in children's literature, archives, oral history, computer technology, business, management, research methodology, education, and reference to support the GSLIS curriculum. Also in the in Level I LIS section is the Bibliomystery Collection with over 300 titles.

Mission Statement

The GSLIS Collection provides the resources, services and facilities necessary to support the mission of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science as established by the School. Inherent in the Collection's mission is the provision of bibliographic, physical and electronic access to information, knowledge, and data for the use of the Simmons College community, alumni, and to the extent possible, other information professionals in the New England area.

If you have any questions regarding the GSLIS collection or services, or if you are not a GSLIS alum and would like access to the GSLIS resources, contact Linda Watkins, GSLIS Librarian.
