The GSLIS Toolkit is a workshop series that will help you as a GSLIS student establish a firm foundation for the skills you will build upon throughout your academic career at Simmons at beyond in your professional lives.
Foundations is a day of workshops designed to get you jump-started by introducing you to features of the Simmons catalog, the Boolean logic, search strategies, the major LIS databases, and more. It is geared for first term students, but if you missed these before and need a refresher, you are welcome to join us.
We will meet in the GSLIS West office at the Village Common, directly beneath the Tower Theater at 9:15 for coffee and Munchkins. We'll finish up by 3:30, so you have plenty of time to get home before kickoff and root for the Patriots.

Have you ever wondered why they do it? The adjuncts, that is.
They already have full time jobs and a degree or two under their belts. But they willingly give up their Saturdays and many hours of leisure to plow their time and talent back into the field. According to LJ Online, “Adjunct teaching is both personally and professionally taxing, but also remarkably rewarding. Self-proclaimed library evangelist Stephanie Willen Brown unfurls the life of an adjunct junkie.” Read the article from the June 15 issue of Library Journal
Summer term print reserves are available in the GSLIS West office in the Village Commons.
To see what is on reserve for your course, go to the Simmons OPAC at http://library.simmons.edu/ and select Course or Professor. All GSLIS West courses will look like this: LIS 403-20 Mount Holyoke.
Please remember to track your usage on the bookstrap. It gives us an idea of how effective the reserve program is for you.

As distance learners, GSLIS West students may use the Library’s new ILLiad software to request all articles, Simmons-owned or otherwise. The following instructions reflect the new procedures.
