Journal articles are available in two formats: online full-text and print. Please keep in mind that only a fraction of the titles that
Simmons subscribes to are available online and most of these only provide coverage
for the last five to ten years. This is particularly true of archival journals, many of
which are available only in print. Therefore, it is very important to
consider both online and traditional print articles when conducting your research.
Basic instruction for obtaining both online and print articles are listed below.
Please contact the Dixie Blake Foster, the GSLIS Library Assistant for Mount Holyoke at 617-521-2828,
email at dixie@simmons.edu or Skype at DixieAtSimmons, for more information.
The OPAC is useful if you have the title of that journal and want to find coverage or browse.
With Serials Solutions you can navigate directly to an article if you have a citation, browse for a journal by name if you aren't sure of the exact title, or browse to find an online journal by subject.
As a community of distance learners, members of the GSLIS West community may use the Library’s ILLiad software to request all articles, Simmons-owned or otherwise. All you need do is identify your department as GSLIS West when you set up your ILL account. To check your current setup, go to ILL and click on Change Your Information from the left navigation bar.
