Electronic resources
While visiting the Library, you have access to all electronic
resources available on-site.
You also have off-campus access to our CareerSearch! database, which allows you to research more than two million potential employers from all sectors of the business and academic worlds. Note: Users must create their own login at the registration screen. In order to complete registration, you will be asked for a client referral code. Please email library@simmons.edu to obtain this code. Please include your Alumnet username as proof of being a Simmons alum.
You also have off-site access to the Vault Online Career Library, provided by Simmons Alumni Services. You will need to be registered at Simmons Alumnet to access. The Vault Online Career library provides Career Guides, Industry Profiles, Employer Profiles, Company Profiles and 1,100 Vault Career Advice Articles. It is one of the most informative and respected sites for job seekers.
In addition, many public libraries provide on-site and remote access to electronic resources. For a list of electronic resources from the Boston Public Library, for example, see http://www.bpl.org/electronic/index.htm. (Boston Public Library cards are available to all Massachusetts residents. See http://www.bpl.org/general/circulation/ecards.htm for more information.) Massachusetts residents can also use their public library cards to search a number of online databases available through the Massachusetts Library Information Network. Our reference staff can help you learn more about the services at your local public library.
For links to many helpful resources on the web, check out our resources by subject guides.
Miller/Knopf Career Resource Library
We encourage you to visit our Career
Resource Library (CRL), where
reference staff can help you find job listings, research companies
or industries
(including assistance with the CareerSearch database), learn how
to increase your network, get resume and interview tips, search
for the perfect graduate program, and more. The CRL also maintains
an e-Library of links to over 1,000 career websites and a blog with
daily career news updates.
College Archives
The Simmons College Archives serves
as the memory of the College, collecting official records, publications,
faculty manuscripts,
photographs, memorabilia, and other materials that document the
history of the College. Our collections record student
traditions such as May Day, Stepsinging, and the Daisy Chain; college
events
such
as
Commencement,
Father-daughter
Weekend, and other social events; and student life
on campus and in the dorms.
You can contact us for information about classes,
course descriptions, or photographs, or if you are planning a reunion.
