Services
To arrange a customized tour and introduction to Library services and resources , make an appointment with a Disability Services Liaison, Associate Director for Public Services, Doris Ann Sweet (617-521-2743 dasweet@simmons.edu) or Access Services Librarian Meg Ragland (617-521-2782 ragland@simmons.edu)
To arrange a reference appointment for uninterrupted help with research, contact the reference staff at 617 521-2784 or select AskNow.
To request physical assistance retrieving material, ask staff at the Circulation Desk.
To request an extended circulation or reserve loan period on a one-time or short-term basis, ask staff at the Circulation Desk.
To request usability information about any web-based products offered by the Library, contact Web and Electronic Resources Librarian, Megan Fox (617 521-2742, or fox@simmons.edu).
To request assistance with special equipment or accessibility software in the Library’s Information Commons, ask staff at the Technology Desk.
To report a physical obstacle to use in any of the library facilities, speak to a library staff member.
To request the following services , contact the Disabilities Services Office to make a formal request for accommodation. When you have obtained a referral, make an appointment with one of the Disability Services Liaisons in the Library: Associate Director for Public Services, Doris Ann Sweet (617-521-2743 dasweet@simmons.edu) or Access Services Librarian Meg Ragland (617-521-2782 ragland@simmons.edu)
- Extended loan and reserve periods on a long-term basis
- Library cards for proxy borrowers
- Mailing of resources to home or dorm
- Reservation of group study room for single person use
Equipment
- A handheld magnifier can be borrowed fromthe Circulation, Reference, and Technology Desks in the Library’s information Commons.
- Headsets can be borrowed fromthe Circulation and Technology Desks in the Library’s Information Commons.
- A CCTV (closed-circuit television) system for magnifying images is locatedon Level 2 of the Library. Ask for assistance at the Technology, Circulation or Reference Desk.
- Large print and Braille keyboards are available in the Information Commons. Ask for assistance at the Technology Desk.
- Track ball mice for people with mobility impairments are available in the Information Commons. Ask for assistance at the Technology Desk.
- An icon appears on the desktop of each workstation for easy access to operating system accessibility features . Ask for assistance at the Technology Desk.
