Quick Facts
The Commitment
- We play 17 matches in the region, primarily on weekends and Wednesday nights. Season starts in September, over by the second week of November
- We train on our non-game days from 5:30 to 7:30, usually having Sundays off (one day off per week, always)
- Our team GPA is one of the highest at school, with seniors having a 3.45, and our junior class has a 3.70. The focus is on academics first for all players, coaches and staff.
- We will arrive on August 22 this year, have two weeks of preseason and then go right into the schedule. You will get a day-by-day summer schedule to make being prepared much easier.
Who is successful?
- Generally, if you have played 3-4 years of high school varsity, and see yourself as a "soccer player," you will have success here. We are very competitive and like to have fun.
- "Smart" players who like to be challenged - we play fun, attacking soccer. If you like to think during a game, you’ll do well here.
- Players who think on their own will be successful when playing for Coach Dawson. He is not a screamer, and believes that you should think during a match.
One first-year, when asked what the biggest difference between Simmons and her high school soccer team, responded "There’s a lot less yelling at the players." Seems like a basic right for athletes, and one Coach Dawson believes in fully. He respects the athletes and treats them like adults, not as little children like some coaches.
