Commuter Resources

Commuter Student Organization

The Commuter Student Organization (CSO) holds meetings in the lounge, which are open to the entire Simmons community. Since the organization is vitally important to commuter students' involvement in College affairs, students are encouraged to support its activities. It is hoped that commuters will keep their representative informed of their interests and concerns. For further information on the Commuter Student Organization, please e-mail the Commuter Students Organization at cso@simmons.edu

The Commuter Lounge

The Commuter Lounge, on the ground level of the MCB, is brightly furnished with comfortable sink-in chairs, and is the perfect place to relax with friends. Along with the Fens Cafeteria and the College Center, the Lounge is a meeting place for commuting students. Commuting students will find that they spend a lot of their time in the Lounge, the Fens and College Center talking, laughing, cramming, and of course, eating. It is a place where lasting friendships are made.

Lockers

The Office of Student Leadership and Activities coordinates the Commuter Lockers in the basement of the Main Campus Building. Lockers are available to undergraduate commuter students on a first-come, first-locked basis. We cannot hold or guarantee lockers for students if the locker does not have a lock on it.

In an effort to manage the lockers, we ask that all students register their locker with us each year. Once you have put a lock on an empty locker, please either come to our office (W-002), call x2423, or email leadership@simmons.edu and give us your name, contact information, year of graduation, and locker number.

Students must clean their lockers and remove the padlock and locker contents at the end of the academic year. The College takes no responsibility for items left in the lockers.

Commuter Housing

On-campus housing for undergraduate and graduate commuter students is available for students who choose to stay overnight for academic, social, or emergency reasons. Commuter rooms are offered on a limited and space-available basis at a cost of $25 per night. No one may stay in the room for more than two consecutive nights and no more than two nights per week. Exceptions may be made during exam periods or during special weekends. Room reservations are made on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be made through the office of Residence Life, x1096 or reslife@simmons.edu. Advanced reservations are recommended, but not mandatory. Students must provide their own bedding.
