Dix Scholars Orientation

Congratulations on your acceptance to Simmons College!  For important information on Summer Advising and Placement Exams, please visit the Center for Academic Achievement's website on Summer Advising and Placement Exams.

Dix Scholars Orientation will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 and Wednesday, September 3, 2008.  You only need to plan to attend one of the Orientation Sessions. Students who have already registered for their Fall Classes through the Summer Advising program should still plan on attending one of the Dix Scholar Orientations.

The Simmons College Orientation offers you the opportunity to meet other Dix Scholars, select your courses, and learn about the variety of resources available to you. Most importantly, you will get to know the essence of Simmons through its faculty, staff and students. You will talk and share ideas with both new and returning students, and you will meet faculty members and administrators who will share insights that can help in your transition to Simmons. The CONNECTIONS you make during Dix Scholars Orientation will be useful as you pursue your studies at Simmons.

The Dix Scholars Orientation schedule is below:

• 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.: Dix Orientation Check-in
• 8:45 - 10:00 a.m.: Math Competency Asessment (for more information, please use this link)
• 10:00 - 10:15 a.m.: Dix Scholars Orientation Welcome
• 10:15 - 10:45 a.m.: Taking Credit for Your Success: Registrar Information Session
• 10:45 - 11:15 a.m.: Understanding Student Financial Services
• 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.: Honor Code Session
• 12:15 - 1:30 p.m.: Dix Scholars Community Welcome Luncheon and Information Sessions
• 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.: Academic Advising, Campus Tours

Dix Scholars Fall Orientation

Dix Scholars and their families are invited to join the other Orientation attendees for the Opening Address and College Welcome from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on the Residence Campus on Saturday, August 30.
