Commuter Students
Commuter Student Orientation
Commuter Students may check-in for Orientation any time between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. If you plan to attend the Commuter Student Orientation, we encourage you to plan to check-in between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m.
A Commuter Student Orientation will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Quadside Cafe on the ground floor of Smith Hall. We strongly encourage Commuter students and their families to attend this Orientation. This Orientation will offer you a chance to speak with members from Student Life, Public Safety and returning commuter students.
Orientation will help you to CONNECT with resources, with your peers and with Simmons. Attendance at Fall Orientation Events is critical to a successful transition for all Simmons students, and even more-so for commuter students.
During Fall Orientation, you will have the opportunity to meet commuter and resident students in your Orientation group and at other Orientation activities. We also will be hosting a commuter student orientation during resident student move-in which will help you and your families learn about the various resources available for Commuter students, including discounted MBTA passes, transportation options, safety tips, and temporary Commuter Housing. This Orientation will also give you a chance to CONNECT with other Commuter students.
We strongly advise you to plan to attend all days of Fall Orientation. Your meals will be covered fully during your time on campus for Orientation events. During Orientation, we would suggest that you plan to use the form of transprtation that you anticipate using during the academic year. This will give you a chance to become familiar with your options and your routes.
