Who should attend Orientation?

All first-year, transfer, and new Dix Scholar students should attend Orientation. You will attend important presentations and meetings and get to know many students, staff, and faculty at Simmons.

What is an Orientation Leader?

An Orientation Leader (OL) is an upperclass student who is here for you to make the transition to Simmons as easy as possible.  She can answer your questions about what it means to be a Simmons student, direct you to resources that will help your transition, and help you connect with other students.  She will be in touch with you over the summer, and then you will meet her when you come to campus inthe Fall.  Incoming transfer students will be matched with an OL who was also transfer student.

Where can family members stay during Fall Orientation?

Family members are invited to attend Family Orientation on Satuday, August 30. If families are planning on staying in Boston for a few days they may want to stay at a hotel in the area. For your convenience, we have listed a few local hotels, or you may choose to find another hotel.  Please note that the student's Orientation shedule may be very busy from Sunday, August 31 - Wednesday, September 3, and we request that families make plans that allow their students to attend their Orientation activities.

Why should I plan to attend one of the summer testing dates?

If you come to one of the open testing dates in the summer, it means that you may not have to worry about the exams in the fall.  You can take the exams while the subjects are still "fresh" in your mind and without having to worry about the challenge of acclimating to a new environment.  These open testing dates also allow you to visit some offices and get questions answered in person, get your photo ID picture taken, and explore the campus during the quiet summer months.

What if I cannot make one of the summer testing dates?

Don't worry! You will be able to take the tests in the Fall. This will not impact your ability to register for classes or talk to your advisor.
