Welcome to Simmons!

The end of the summer is drawing to a close, and we are excited to have you join us on campus very soon for Fall Orientation, which will begin on Sunday, September 2 and continue through Tuesday, September 4.  Please click here  to download a detailed schedule of Orientation Events. Use the link for Fall Orientation on your right to read important information about check-in.

Check-in for Orientation and Residence Life will take place from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Holmes Sports Center. Please see the following map  for the location of the Holmes Sports Center. At Check-in, you will receive your Orientation materials and Simmons ID, and resident students will receive their keys to their residence halls.  Orientation Leaders, Resident Advisers, Simmons Staff, and other volunteers will be available throughout the process to answer your questions or concerns!

Sunday, September 2 will also include a Commuter Student Orientation for commuter students and their families from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Commuter Student Orientation and Residence Life Move-In will be followed by the College Welcome at 1:00 p.m., which we encourage all students and families to attend.  The welcome will be followed by a College Picnic, which will be a great opportunity to meet new and returning students and staff. After the picnic, families should plan to depart so that students can continue with the rest of the Orientation events on Sunday. Orientation activities will continue from 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., including an opportunity for resident students to eat dinner with their floor or commuter students to eat with other commuter students.

Monday, September 3 will include an all-day program, F.A.C.E.S. (First-Year Appreciation of Cultural Experiences at Simmons), with a special performance by the group N*W*C. Blending theater, hip-hop, stand-up comedy, slam poetry, and true-life stories with their own original style, three tour-de-force performers take on racial slurs, stereotypes and the concept of race  itself in a 90-minute stage production. The stage production will be followed by discussion groups, in which first-year students will meet with their First-Year Experience seminar. All first-year students are expected to attend this event.  We also look forward to having Dix Scholars and transfer students in attendance.

Tuesday, September 4 will consist of various information sessions, including a mandatory Honor Code presentation, academic advising for students who have not registered for classes, and further opportunities to become acclimated to Simmons.

We look forward to seeing you soon! In the meantime, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mailing orientation@simmons.edu or by calling 617-521-2429.
