New Student Orientation

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Who should attend June Orientation?
All first-year and transfer students should attend June Orientation. You will attend important presentations and meetings (including your individual appointment with a faculty adviser to plan your academic schedule) and get to know many students, staff, and faculty at Simmons.

Where do I stay during June Orientation?
Incoming students will be assigned to a residence hall room for the overnight program. Incoming students planning to be fall commuter students are encouraged to stay overnight, as well. Bedding and towels are provided, but students should bring their own toiletries.

What should I wear to June Orientation?
Please wear comfortable clothes (and good walking shoes!) for the Day One walking tours of Boston. On Day Two, you'll have an individual advising appointment, so dress appropriately for a meeting with faculty.

Where do family members stay during June Orientation?
Family members are invited to attend Family Orientation on Tuesday or Friday. Families may therefore choose to stay overnight in the Boston area. For your convenience, we have listed a few local hotels, or you may choose to find another hotel.

Is there a fee for June Orientation?
There is no registration charge for the students or family members attending June Orientation. Meals will be included during the scheduled orientations.

What if I cannot attend June Orientation?
If you cannot attend June Orientation due to previously scheduled obligations, please still fill out an Online Reply Card for June Orientation. This will allow the College to help coordinate communication between you and a faculty adviser to make an academic schedule.

Is Fall Orientation different from June Orientation?
Yes, the programs differ. Fall Orientation builds upon June Orientation. We strongly encourage all students to attend June Orientation, and all incoming students are expected to participate in Fall Orientation to ensure a successful transition to Simmons.
