Printing Policy and Tips

Here is some information to help you with printing:

Overview of the print quota for public printers

Students, faculty, and staff are allotted a print quota of 350 free pages at the start of each semester, with a bonus of 50 pages to allow for possible misprints. Left over pages will not roll over to the following semester. A pilot project tracking public printing has shown that this amount of free printing meets the needs of the vast majority of students. To make the most of your quota, see Saving paper (and money).  The College's pay-for-print system monitors printing on all public printers (i.e. those in general access labs, library printers, and technology labs). Each time you swipe your ID card (guest cards are available), the print station displays the remaining print quota.

Once the printing quota has been exceeded, users will be charged $0.07 per page on their Fenway Card accounts. Color printouts will be charged at 11 page units. This means each color printout will count as 11 pages towards the quota and will cost $0.77. Students, faculty, and staff can add money to their cards using a credit card online. Guests and alumnae/i can obtain guest cards at one of the Library Information Commons services points on the 1st floor:  Circulation, Reference, and Technology Desks.
