Regulations
The following parking regulations are intended for the benefit, safety and convenience of the Simmons College community. All permit and coupon holders are responsible for reading and understanding the Simmons College Parking Regulations. To maximize the use of available parking spaces, the Department of Public Safety will strictly enforce the regulations.
On-campus parking is allowed by permit only in the garage located under One Palace Road during open hours: Monday - Friday, 6am to midnight; Saturday - Sunday, 8am to midnight (employees may have to use their ID to gain access to the garage during non-business hours). No permits are valid for overnight parking. Unauthorized vehicles left in the lot or garage overnight will be towed at the vehicle owner's expense.
Parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Unusually high demand, college events, construction, heavy snowfall, or special circumstances will occasionally prohibit permit-holders and scheduled visitors from securing a parking space. The College assumes no responsibility, financial or otherwise, to the permit holder if parking is unavailable - permit holders are required to make alternative arrangements at their own expense.
Permits are non-transferable and are issued only for vehicles owned or leased by the Simmons permit-holder and their immediate family. Permits may not be used by family or friends unless accompanied by the permit holder. Use of the parking lot is allowed only while the permit holder is at Simmons on official college business.
Permits must be displayed face forward from the vehicle's inside rearview mirror. Special and visitor permits must be displayed face-up on top of the driver's side dashboard. Individuals who have registered multiple vehicles and members of carpools must transfer their permit to the vehicle used on that day. Improper display or failure to display a valid permit may result in ticketing or towing of the vehicle at the vehicle owner's expense. Also, vehicles with visitor permits may be ticketed or towed if they remain on campus beyond the time listed on their visitor parking permit.
Parking is only allowed in designated areas within a single parking space marked by two yellow stripes. Parking is prohibited along the entrance and exit roads, in the shipping and receiving area, in fire lanes, in front of and on parking ramps and pedestrian ramps, in handicapped spaces (without proper permit), in diagonally-striped spaces between handicapped spaces, and around the parking booth.
The College reserves the right to tow, at the vehicle owner's expense, any vehicle that is violating the above regulations and to revoke any parking permits for cause. Parking privileges may be revoked indefinitely if you fail to follow the instructions of a Public Safety officer or security staff in parking areas and at the parking booth. Violation of any parking policies will result in a ticket or towing at the vehicle owner's expense.
The College assumes no liability for loss or damage to vehicles or their contents while parked on College property, to vehicles being moved by valets, or to vehicles being towed off-campus.
The parking policy applies to all students, faculty and staff of the College and shall be deemed a part of the terms and conditions of the admission and enrollment of students and the employment of faculty and staff members. These regulations apply to all visitors and shall be deemed a part of the terms and conditions of the permission to enter the grounds of Simmons College and operate vehicles on campus property.
Simmons College reserves the right to change parking policies and limit parking permit sales subsequent to the publication of this policy.
