Career Counseling
The CEC staff, as career development specialists, provide assistance with interviewing, preparing effective job search materials, developing job search strategies, and discovering the right career or field for you. Additionally, the center assists those who may need support during the career decision-making process. Two of the tools we use are:
NEW! TypeFocusTM Careers Self Assessment Tool
TypeFocusTM Careers assesses your personality type and creates five personalized reports that provide self-awareness and insight for wise decision-making on important topics:
• What career choices fit with my personality
• How can I improve my chances for getting a job
• How can I get along with people better?
• What are my learning style strengths?
Call the Career Education Center at 617 521-2488 for your TypeFocusTM Site Password.
Strong Interest Inventory
This tool helps you identify your predominant interests, which are useful in guiding you to specific occupations and fields for exploration. It can confirm your initial career direction.
Myers Briggs Type Indicator
The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a self-assessment tool, which can help you focus your career exploration. The MBTI is primarily concerned with highlighting your particular personality traits and determining where you like to focus your attention, the way you take in and process information and the kind of lifestyle you prefer to lead. All of these play an integral part in your career decision making.
