College Compliance With Federal Regulations Requiring Investigator
Significant Financial Disclosure Policy for Sponsored Projects
In accordance with Federal regulations, Simmons College has a responsibility to manage, reduce, or eliminate any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may be presented by a financial interest of an investigator. Specifically, Federal regulations require institutions to have policies and procedures in place to ensure that investigators disclose:
1. any significant financial interests that would reasonably appear to be directly and significantly affected by the research or educational activities funded, or proposed for funding, by an external sponsor;
2. any significant financial interest of the investigator in an entity whose financial interests would reasonably appear to be directly and significantly affected by the research or educational activities funded, or proposed for funding, by an external sponsor.
Simmons College requires that investigators disclose any significant financial interest that may present an actual or potential conflict of interest in relationship with a sponsored project. This policy applies to all externally sponsored projects, regardless of funding source.
Simmons College’s Investigator Significant Financial Disclosure Policy for Sponsored Projects consists of three parts: 1) description of policy requirements, definitions, statement of College policy, and reporting guidelines; 2) Declaration for Significant Financial Disclosure Policy (Short Form A); and 3) Declaration for Significant Financial Interest Disclosure Policy (Long Form B).
In accordance with Federal regulations, please complete a disclosure (Form A or B) and return it to Jon Kimball, Office of Sponsored Programs, in a sealed envelope marked “confidential.” If you have any questions, please call Jon Kimball (ex. 2411).
NOTE: This form must be completed and returned to the Office of Sponsored Programs (W-204, MCB) before the proposal can be submitted.
