Marketing at Simmons

The Marketing Department leads university-wide marketing efforts to increase Simmons College brand awareness among prospective students, parents,alumnae/i, and opinion leaders; to competitively position the College; and to drive admissions inquiries for undergraduate and graduate programs. The Marketing Department manages the development of major admissions publications for all programs, public relations,external and internal communications, brand advertising, call-to-action advertising, online marketing, and the SIMMONS magazine for alums.

The Marketing Department is organized into four key groups based on function: advertising, communications, online marketing, and admissions publications.

Advertising

Advertising is a key component of our marketing effort. The advertising team develops creative executions, as needed, using the powerful "Purpose" campaign and places brand advertising and call-to-action advertising in a variety of media including print,radio,online and outdoor. Communications

The communications team provides boh internal and external publicity for the College, including press releases and news pitches to the media for feature stories and editorials, and "In the Loop" (the faculty/staff newsletter). In addition, the group works with College leadership on key communications and messages to all constituencies of the Simmons community, including students, parents, faculty and staff, alumni, trustees and corporators. Further, the team maintains the Simmons Style Guide, which details usage and grammar rules for all print and web publications.

Online Marketing

Online Marketing is a critical component of our marketing effort. The Online Marketing team partners with the admissions offices of all graduate schools and with the undergraduate college to create strong and persuasive email marketing campaigns for prospects. In addition, the team handles search marketing, including search engine optimization, key word placement and web statistics analysis. Online Marketing works with the Department of Web Design to ensure that our online presence is consistent, effective, and on brand.

Admissions Publications

The Admissions Publications team develops the key printed publications (the "admissions publications suite") that are used to excite and educate prospective students about Simmons graduate schools and the undergraduate college. In addition, the team develops critical, all college-wide publications that also are used in the admissions process such as the annual Security Brochure, the campus map and College-at-a-Glance; as well as materials used at various Open House and Admitted Students events on campus.
