What to Bring

Items listed below are for roommates to discuss. You may decide you don't need two:

  1. Stereo
  2. TV
  3. Computer
  4. Curtains
  5. Standing lamps
    Remember: No halogens, due to fire safety
  6. Rugs

Things for your room:

  1. Pillows
  2. Bed linens and comforter for standard-size twin bed
  3. Phone
  4. Power cords and surge protectors
  5. Light bulbs
  6. Storage boxes/crates
  7. Bulletin/dry erase board
  8. Flashlight
  9. Clothing hangers
  10. Dishes (plate, bowl, cup, fork, knife, spoon, can opener, sauce pan)
  11. First aid kit (Band-aids, antibiotic cream, cold medication, aspirin)
  12. Alarm clock
  13. Posters
  14. Picture frames
  15. Three prong outlet adapters

Things for your desk:

  1. Desk lamp
  2. Stapler
  3. 3- hole punch
  4. Stationery and stamps
  5. Calculator
  6. Pens, pencils, pencil sharpener
  7. Calendar and planner
  8. Ruler
  9. Scotch tape

Things for the bathroom and the laundry room:

  1. Toothbrush/toothpaste
  2. Laundry basket/bag
  3. Laundry detergent and other laundry aids
  4. Drying rack
  5. Hand soap
  6. Flip-flops for the shower
  7. Towels, both hand towel and full-sized
  8. Shower basket (to carry shampoo/conditioner, soap, etc., back and forth)

Other important things:

  1. Key chain
  2. Social security card
  3. Health insurance card
  4. Address book
  5. Money (large amounts should be kept safely in the bank)
  6. Quarters for laundry and/or vending machine
  7. Prescription medication

What to Leave at Home:

  1. Tapestries and cloth wall hangings
  2. Any cooking appliances other than the college-supplied Microfridge
  3. Halogen lamps
  4. Candles, incense, or any other type of flame or burning unit (These items are all considered fire hazards)
  5. Car (There is no student parking available for residents and it is extremely difficult to find street parking and is very expensive to finance parking options)
  6. Hammer, nails and power drills (They damage the walls and any damages will be deducted from your housing deposit)
  7. All pets (With the exception of those pets that live in a 5-gallon fish tank or smaller)
