Important Notes About Applying for Aid

1. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) may take 4 to 6 weeks to process. In order for Simmons to receive this information by the Simmons Application for Financial Aid deadline, make sure the FAFSA is completed and mailed on time as well. Please keep in mind that by filing your FAFSA online, the processing time is reduced by 1 to 2 weeks. Visit the FAFSA website for more information: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. All students seeking financial aid must fill a FAFSA out.
2. When completing the FAFSA, if tax information is still incomplete, estimate these figures as accurately as possible. Discrepancies between estimated and actual tax information can be adjusted later, and by meeting the FAFSA deadline you will not incur penalties for filing a late application for financial aid.
3. Your full name, social security number, and date of birth must be included on your FAFSA and on all application materials submitted to Student Financial Services. Please check these items before mailing and keep copies of each form.
4. Each year the federal government randomly selects students who have completed the FAFSA application for a process called verification. The verification process requires that the school review supporting documents to verify the information reported on the FAFSA for the student, spouse, and/or parent.
