Due to an influx of email infected with viruses or sent by viruses, Technology has temporarily disabling the ability to send .zip files via email. Once the vendor of our email server anti-virus solution produces a definition file that includes this new virus, we will unblock .zip files. We will send another email message to everyone when this takes place.
There is a world-wide problem with German spam going around the Internet as well. Please see this Google news page for more information.
As always, please use caution opening any attachment you receive via email, even from someone you know. Some virus generated email has the ability to fake the sender address in an attempt to have you open an attachment that you otherwise would not. These particular infected messages are currently being sent from addresses such as “Support@simmons.edu” and “Administrator@simmons.edu”.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Help Desk at 617-521-2222.
