Those affected: users of Windows computers in Simmons general access, lab, and classroom computers (including residence campus labs).
Technology will deliver a Windows XP security update on Monday, June 27, 2005, early in the morning. Around 2 am, the computer will restart, and you will not be able to use it for 15 minutes. Once the 15 minutes is up, and the machine once again restarts itself, the computer will be fully functional. Sunday night and Monday morning, please leave general access, lab, and classroom computers on.
This is the same update that was applied to faculty and staff office computers this week. If you have a Windows computer at home: please be sure to go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and follow the instructions to download any updates that need to be applied to your computer.
If you have any questions about the update to Simmons computers, please contact the Help Desk at 617-521-2222, or by email at helpdesk@simmons.edu
