This is a Technology Alert for all Simmons faculty and staff who use a Simmons-owned computer (Macintosh or Windows).

We believe our anti-virus software conversion to Sophos is complete, but it is terribly important that you help us make sure!

Our Symantec antivirus license has now expired, and so if there are any computers that did not successfully install Sophos, they will be unprotected from new viruses. If infected, such computers may bog down the network for all of us, or make it impossible for the person using the computer to get any work done.

So, please take a moment to check to see whether you have Sophos installed on your Simmons computer.

  • Windows users: you should see a blue shield in the bottom right corner of your screen. There should not be a red x through the shield.
  • Mac users: you should see a blue shield in the top right corner of your screen. There should not be a red x through the shield.

If you do not see the blue shield, or if the shield has a red x through it, please contact the Help Desk as soon as possible (617-521-2222 option 8, or helpdesk@simmons.edu).

If you use a Simmons laptop, please contact the Help Desk to verify that the laptop is properly configured.

Thanks to you all for your patience during this process!
