Network Issues on January 8

On Monday January 8, at about 6am, there was a power failure in the college Data Center as a result of an electrical failure on the backup power generator during routine testing. Although most services recovered quickly, several systems and the college's connection to the Internet were unavailable while personnel responded to campus to correct the problem. Most services were restored by 9am, with the exception of a few areas on the main campus where network connectivity was affected. As Technology received calls from these areas, network connectivity was restored quickly.

Technology is working with vendors on diagnosing and repairing the emergency backup power system for the Data Center. We do not anticipate any further unannounced service interruptions.
