This message is for Simmons faculty and staff using Simmons Windows computers in their offices.
This information does not affect Mac users, people using their own computers, or people using Simmons computers in the Info Commons, Technology Labs, and classrooms.
If you have trouble launching web-based applications like Simmons Vista or Kronos, please restart your computer. (You may need to do so twice). Read on for a technical explanation of why this may be necessary.
Late last week, Technology pushed several updates to all Windows computers to accommodate the changes required by the shift in Daylight Saving Time (see: Windows computers at Simmons). One update removes Java, and then installs a new version of Java when the computer is next restarted. The computer must be restarted after the installation for the changes to take effect.
We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have questions or concerns, please call the Technology Help Desk: 617-521-2222, option 8.
