Update as of 2:00 pm
As of 2 pm today, October 17, all courses on the Simmons eLearning system are available. All Simmons faculty, staff, and students should be able to access http://my.simmons.edu/elearning. If you have any problems logging in or problems with your courses that you think may be related to the outage today, please contact the Help Desk (617-521-2222, option 8) immediately.

This morning before 5:30 am, UMass Online, where Simmons eLearning is hosted, suffered from a broadscale electrical power surge in the Worcester area. UMass Online had to restore each system one at a time to ensure data integrity.

All Simmons technology services are operating normally at this time.

Update as of 12:30 pm
UMass Online continues to work to get the eLearning system back up. They do not expect service to be restored before 3 pm.

Update as of 10:30 am, October 17
Vendors are onsite at UMass Online.

The source of the disruption was a broad scale power surge in the Worcester area. Other sites were impacted including the Worcester Telegram and a State Street facility in the region.

Original post:

The Simmons eLearning system has been unavailable to all Simmons faculty, staff and students since approximately 5 am this morning. UMass Online is working on the issue.

We will update the telephone status line (617-521-2222, option 3) and this as we learn more. We will send an email and voice mail notification when access to Simmons eLearning has been fully restored.
