Update, December 6, 9:20 am
It appears that some HP LJ4200s, and many a couple of HP LJ4250s, are not printing properly. If you see that your printer is blinking instead of printing, please call the Help Desk immediately.
In some cases, the Windows computer is sending incorrect information about the paper size to the printer, and so the printer responds by blinking and indicating to the user that it needs a different size of paper.
Update, December 6, 8:45 am
We believe that all printers on campus are responding normally to Windows users' print requests. We have received aural confirmation from all but two work groups that printing is working properly, and have left messages for those groups.
If you have a problem printing to a shared Simmons printer, please notify the Help Desk immediately: x2222, option 8.
Update, December 5, noon
We believe that most Windows users in faculty/staff offices on campus are now able to print. We have identified specific areas where people are still having trouble and are working to resolve those issues. The printing issues do not affect Mac users, because of the method the Macs use to print. The printing issues do not affect pay-for-print printers, because those printers are using a separate print server. The SOM campus is also unaffected.
If you have a critical need to print and are unable to, please call the Help Desk (x2222, option 8): we send a technician to set up your computer with a temporary fix that will enable you to print.
If you are having trouble printing and want to be sure that your area is on our list, or you want an update about the status of our work on your issue, please call the Help Desk (x2222, option 8).
All other Simmons technology services are operating normally.
For more information about this service interruption, please check this page, or call extension 2222 and press 3 to hear a status message. Both the web page and the status message will be updated until this disruption is resolved.
Thank you for your patience, and apologies for the inconvenience.

This is an alert from Technology at Simmons College. Print services have begun failing again. We need to reboot the print server, which we are doing now.
The problem affects printers in faculty and staff offices, particularly, but not only, HP laserjets in the 4000 series. The problem does not affect Mac users. We had hoped would fully resume by 3:45 this afternoon, and asked that people who continue to have problems call the Help Desk at extension 2222, option 8.
The problem has continued past 3:45 pm, and so we will continue to work on the print server, provide individual work-arounds to those who call, and provide updates via http://my.simmons.edu/technology and through the Help Desk status message at extension 2222, option 3.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
All other technology services are operating normally.
