Topics   |   Six Ways to Get Help

1 Check the Support Section of this Site

If your issue is not urgent (if it is, please call us at 617-521-2222 or email us), check the Support section of this website for information on getting support for technology in the classroom, on your desktop or in your dorm room. The Help Desk website also contains tips and documentation you may find helpful.

If there is an emergency affecting an important technology system (e.g. a problem that affects a portion of a building, or a group of people) when the Help Desk is closed, you can contact Public Safety.

2 Send Us Your Problem or Question

The Simmons Help Desk is generally the main point-of-contact for all technology-related questions. When you fill out the form below, we will do one of two things: we will reply with an answer (or will put you in touch with the right person if that is not Technology); or, we will open a Ticket. Once a Ticket has been opened, we will work on the issue until it has been solved.

3 Call Us at x2222

You can always call 617-521-2222 to report a problem with technology on campus to the Simmons Help Desk. We will do our best to answer your question or will open a Ticket for further follow-up until we can resolve your issue.

4 Attend a Self-Help Clinic

If the problem is with your own computer, not a Simmons computer, please call the Help Desk at 617-521-2222 option 8, or to fill out the report form to register for a Self-Help Clinic. You may also come to a clinic without registering, but those who have registered will be served first and we cannot guarantee we'll be able to assist you unless you register. During these clinics, Help Desk staff guide users in troubleshooting issues with their own computers and with installing security updates.

The schedule is available here.

5 Get Help In Person

The Help Desk manages inquiries via email or the telephone, but you can get assistance with some technology questions in person at the following locations:

Information Commons Technology Desk

The Information Commons Technology Desk in Beatley Library provides walk-in technical support for students and others using the Library. The desk's schedule coincides with the Library’s hours; please check the Library's web site. Students with software questions or faulty media can come to the Information Commons for help.

6 Get Training

If you want to learn a new technology skill, or increase your proficiency, you should take advantage of the extensive training opportunities Simmons offers each semester in the Pottruck Technology Resource Center (PTRC). To get started, visit the PTRC website.
