Antivirus Software: Install and Configure Sophos Anti-Virus

Thank you for agreeing to the Terms of Use.

Now that you do not have any antivirus software on your computer, it's time to install Sophos Antivirus.

Download & Install Software

1. Click here to download Sophos
   You will be asked to authenticate; use your Simmons username and the same password you use with your email account.
   You will see a window that asks you if you want to Run, Save, Cancel, or see More Info about the file. Click Run, then wait several seconds. "Verifying installer" will appear briefly.
   
2. The installer begins by checking to make sure that you have removed all other anti-virus software.

   

3. If the installer detects that another antivirus product is still installed, it will not install Sophos Anti-Virus. It opens an error window, telling you what software is installed. Please uninstall the other antivirus software. Instructions for how to do this are located on the previous page. If you do not see this error message, continue on to the next step.
   
4. The installer unpacks the files necessary for installation.

   

5. The installation application opens, welcoming you to the install of Sophos Anti-Virus. Click Next.

   

6. The install application asks for a Destination Folder. Click Next.

   

7. The installer now makes sure that you are ready to install the Anti-Virus software. Click Install.

   

8. The status appears as Sophos is installed. This will take several minutes.

   

9. When the “InstallShield Wizard Completed”screen appears click Finish to exit the installer.

   

10. The installer now installs and configures AutoUpdate.
    This will take a few minutes, and does not require any input from you.

    

11. The setup application now deletes temporary files that were used during the installation.

    

12. When the Completed window appears click Close to finish the installation.
