Username & Passwords

As a Simmons faculty or staff member or student you have access to many network services that require a username (or login name) and password. Your username is the same across all Simmons systems. But keeping track of your passwords and how to change them can be confusing. This web page outlines the various accounts you have and how to change those passwords.

Three passwords:

 Email / Simmons eLearning / AARC / MySimmons / Library resources / Kronos / Meeting Maker / Personal Web Pages

You have one password for all of the accounts listed below. 

  • Simmons email
  • Simmons eLearning (powered by WebCT Vista)
  • AARC (Academic and Administrative Resource Center)
  • MySimmons, where you read campus announcements, participate in groups, write blogs, etc.
  • Library resources available from on- or off-campus
  • Kronos (online time and attendance application used by staff)
  • Web version of Meeting Maker (official Simmons shared calendaring system for faculty and staff)
  • Personal web pages

Quit or exit your web browser after you log out of any of these tools, to be sure your private information stays private.

To change this password:

  • go to http://preferences.simmons.edu/, log in, and click Change User Password
  • If you have forgotten your password, call the Help Desk (617-521-2222) to have it reset.

 Simmons Computers and File Servers

Computers in the Library Information Commons, general access labs, classrooms, and virtually all faculty and staff offices (Windows XP and Mac OS X) require that you login. Logging into these computers with your own username and password connects you to your storage space on the file server, and to space on the file server where you can share files with other faculty, staff, or students. This is the same password as for remote access to the file server (see remote.simmons.edu Guide).

To change this password:

  • see: Changing your file server password, or
  • If you have forgotten your password, call the Help Desk (617-521-2222) to have it reset. You will be asked for your ID number.

Colleague

Some faculty and staff have a Colleague Datatel account. You will be prompted to change your password every 84 days. If you need your password changed sooner, call the Help Desk (617-521-2222).
