  The Pottruck Technology Resource Center (PTRC) helps faculty and students integrate technology into their teaching and learning. • Classroom Technology

  Simmons has created an environment where every teaching space is potentially a technology-enabled space. Many classrooms have built-in media equipment and an instructor's computer. Four classrooms are outfitted with computers for every student, and several graduate schools and undergraduate departments operate their own computer labs for special work related to their disciplines.

• Information Commons

  The Libraries and Technology work together to provide students with an Information Commons: conveniently adjacent computers, study spaces, resources and expertise that students need to be academically successful. There are three service points to help students in the Information Commons: the Library Access Desk circulates books and reserve materials, the Library Reference Desk provides research assistance and help finding and evaluating information, and the Technology Desk provides technical assistance and help using hardware and software. You may borrow wireless laptops from the Technology Desk.

• Statistical Software Support

  The Statistical Software Consultant, Dr. Shelley Strowman, is available to provide assistance to all members of the college on the use of SPSS, Minitab, and SAS statistical software programs. All three programs are available in computer labs across the Simmons campus and can be installed on faculty and staff machines subject to software licensing agreements.

• WebCT

  Simmons College is using WebCT to deliver Web-enhanced courses. WebCT is a computer application that can be used to post a syllabus, lecture notes, and other course materials on the Internet, link directly to online journal articles, serve online quizzes, as well as communicate with students in a real-time chatroom or with a bulletin board.
