Web Design

On a practical level, Web Design department designs and manages Simmons' official web presence and supports electronic marketing efforts throughout the College. The Web Design department also leads the strategic planning, development and deployment of Simmons' next-generation online capabilities and services. To date, the Web Design department has developed a Web Services Master Plan, a multi-year set of initiatives to move both Simmons' web infrastructure and the resulting online services forward in a deliberate, cost-effective and integrated fashion, and is currently implementing Phase 1 of the Master Plan with support from a generous grant from the Davis Foundation.

The professional web staff have expertise in graphic design, information architecture, usability, accessible and user-centered design and various web programming technologies and standards. While Web Design department is an office within Technology, the web team is a cross-functional group which also includes email design specialists who are part of Marketing. We share a studio space in the Palace Road building that reflects the creative and technically challenging work we undertake together to solve design, programming and communications challenges for the College.
