SOM Graduation Updates - July 7

The Copley Fairmont group discount rate for Simmons will expire on July 15. Please remember to call the Fairmont and tell them you are with Simmons, as the online reservations will show the hotel is booked during graduation.

Attention Class of 2005: You are invited the SOM Alumnae Association’s Annual New Alumnae Reception, on Monday, July 25 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm in the green room. This event, sponsored by the Simmons SOMAA, marks a wonderful tradition of welcoming the new class of MBA graduates to the distinguished ranks of Simmons SOM alumnae. Join Alumnae Association board members, and student representatives Zuania Pomales ‘05 and Jennifer Meade ‘05, along with faculty and staff, as we toast the class of 2005. This will be a great way to learn about how we can stay involved and connected to the school, each other, and the incredible network of SOM alumnae in Boston and around the globe. Refreshments will be served. Look for the paper invitation in your student mail box. RSVP by Monday, July 18 to somaa@simmons.edu. We hope you will join us for this terrific and festive event.

A Celebration of the Behind-the-Scenes Heroes of the SOM MBA Reserve your spot now for the graduation celebration honoring those partners, friends, roommates, and family members who have helped each of us reach graduation. Tickets can be purchased prior to classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays beginning next week through Thursday, July 7th.

When: SATURDAY, JULY 30th (the weekend prior to graduation) Time: 2:00 - 4:00pm Where: Milky Way Lounge & Lanes in Jamaica Plain (subway, bus, and car accessible) Cost: $15 per person, children under 5 are free (must be 4 ft tall to bowl)

We’ve got the entire Milky Way reserved just for us as a special party. That means 7 lanes of candlepin bowling, pool table, lounge, and a Milky Way Buffet featuring a variety of all-you-can-eat gourmet pizza, (for the true Simmons experience!), salad, drinks, and dessert.

There will be a special program mid-way through the celebration to recognize each of our invited ‘honorees’. More details, as well as directions to follow. AVAILABILITY IS LIMITED, so mark your calendars and purchase your tickets ASAP.

Class of 2005 invited to join Simmons SOM eGroup This SOM alumnae e-group is open to students in the June prior to their graduation. Wish you could stay in touch with other alumnae from the convenience of your own desk? Then join the lively email discussion group of SOM alumnae. It’s moderated, in a low-key minimal way, by Peg Kelley ‘88. The group now has more than 150 members, and all SOM alumnae are invited! Current students may subscribe in the June before graduation. Topics include job opportunities, events of interest to alumnae and working women, requests for information, news of business funding options…and more. Go to http://www.yahoo.com and click on Groups/Clubs in the “connect” area toward the top of the home page. Under “Join a Group” enter simmonssom (all lowercase and no spaces) and select search. Now you will be at our group page. If you’re already a member of Yahoo, then just click “sign in” on the upper right. If you’re not a member of Yahoo, click on “register” on the upper right, and enter the requested information. It’s FREE. You will then be admitted to the list.
