Barbara Sher, career coach and bestselling author of Wishcraft and I Could Do Anything if I Only Knew What it Was, describes a Success Team as “a group of 5 or 6 people who meet every week and help each other get whatever it is they need.” The Job Seekers Network success team is designed for students who are approaching graduation and are actively conducting a job search. It is an on-going group with meetings on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00pm in the Career Services Suite (located on the 4th floor of 411 Commonwealth Ave., 2 flights above the Green & Gold Rooms); no RSVP is necessary. The group may decide on a different day and time after graduation and in the past has continued meeting until the end of December. Wendy D’Ambrose, Director of Career Services, leads the group in discussion on best practices for a successful job search including such topics as: effectively using the SOM alumnae network, principles of networking, helpful websites, job search tips, group sharing of individual insights regarding what works, what doesn’t. This group is geared toward 2005 graduates and current students only.
Please note: There is also a Job Seekers Network (Success Team) group for School of Management alumnae. This on-going alumnae group, has been in existence since 1999. The group population changes but the day and time remain the same, most Mondays from 5-6:30pm. Students are welcome to attend this group if they prefer the evening timing.
