NOTE FROM MARY D.
One of the highlights of my job is watching students in action and Tuesday was the final night of the BGGE presentations. Traditionally for students, these presentations always evoke strong positive memories for those who have already completed them in their MBA program, and I am proud to announce that once again, they were terrific!! I truly do believe that the BGGE country analysis and presentations are one of the many transformative moments in the MBA program. You will be forever connected to a region of the world that you studied in depth. You will always pay special attention to changes and events in your region going forward, and will understand better than anyone else what precipitated the changes and what the economic impact of the event will be. How cool is that fact!! You would have been proud of your colleagues, and like everyone else, they are glad they are over!!
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
“The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps — we must step up the stairs.” - Vance Havner
“Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful, and you will accomplish your objective. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
OPERATIONS UPDATE
The Library move continues through the end of this week, but they are fully operational on an interim basis in the Business Center in 411. The computer lab is fully operational except for the color printer in its new home outside the MBA office. Study rooms will be moved on Thursday July 28th as scheduled and will be operational by the end of the day. We know that the moves this week accompanied by the heat wave on Wednesday did not help the stress levels for folks with deliverables still remaining. I really appreciated everyone’s cooperation as we maneuvered through the moves, with special thanks to the Technology, Library, Operations and MBA office staffs for problem solving on the spot throughout the day.
All students that have stuff in lockers, rooms, etc in the 419 building should make sure they remove anything they need or want by 11:00pm on Friday, July 29th. Access to all SOM students and staff will be cut off on July 29th.
