NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH (September 15th - October 14th)
It’s Hispanic Heritage month the most important Hispanic “fiesta” in the United States. It all started in the 1960’s when doors began to open for non-Caucasian in America. This period witnessed the day when thousands of Latinos walked out of Abraham Lincoln School in LA demanding equality, in education, employment, and a political voice.

During this month, America celebrates Hispanic cultures, achievements, and heritage by commemorating the following historical events:

Independence Day for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua (September 15th)

Independence Day for Mexico (September 16th)

El Dia de la Raza (October 12th)
In 1989 the U.S. Congress created Hispanic Heritage Week. Now, more than 20 years later, the celebration has grown and expanded to a month.

Simmons School of Management and the Latina Club wishes to honor this occasion by joining the celebration. Please come on Thursday October 13th from 4:45PM – 5:45PM to open a new season of Latina Club meetings. We will meet in CR 2 at 451 Marlborough St (Mockler). This day you will have the opportunity to learn what the Latina Club is about and ways you can participate. You don’t need to be Latina or speak Spanish to be part of the meeting. Hispanic food and refreshments will be served.

Please, if you would like to join us for this celebration don’t forget to RSVP before October 10th by e-mailing Ana Clara Destefani or Marcela Aldaz at Destefani@simmons.edu or aldaz@simmons.edu.
