NOTE FROM MARY D.
Two weeks to Thanksgiving!! Students in both the day and evening programs are working really hard and everyone is feeling the workload pinch. Hang in there!!
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Tom Reilly in an article on dealing with tough times:
“You fight this battle on two fronts. One, you fight it on the streets with your knowledge and skills. Two, you fight it in your mind—your thinking and your attitude. Attitude drives behavior. We move in the direction of our thoughts. We behave as we believe. What we feel on the inside we generally demonstrate on the outside. You may not be able to control your environment totally but you can control your reaction. You may not be able to control the outcome of your efforts but you can control your input. You may not be able to silence the cynics and the critics but you can prove them wrong with your attitude and behavior.”

Your participation is more important than ever at this time! Note that no experience is necessary – we will train you! Please join us to help the SOM reach its goals for 2005. This year’s priorities include: Entrepreneurship Initiative, Enhancing Curriculum, Reputation Building, and Principled Leadership and Accountability. We provide delicious refreshments, good spirit, and great prizes to our volunteer callers. So check your calendars and contact Abbie Mohlin at 617.521.3825 or abigail.mohlin@simmons.edu to sign up.

SOM ALUMNAE BOARD RECRUITING STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES
Apply by November 11, 2005
The Simmons School of Management Alumnae Association (SOMAA) Board of Directors is looking for two students (one full time, one part time) from the Class of 2006 to sit on the Board as non-voting members representing the interests of current students, our pre-alumnae constituents.
The SOMAA Board is the leadership of the Alumnae Association. Our mission is to serve alumnae and to support and advance the SOM. We focus on strategic issues that are important to furthering the interests of both groups including: building a sense of community and identity to help alumnae stay connected to each other and to the SOM, facilitating communication via the Network Magazine, fundraising, accreditation, career services, marketing executive education, etc.
Your time commitment includes attendance all board meetings. These are held monthly as conference calls and in person at the SOM once per quarter. Additionally you may want to work on a committee or on a special project.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working on a board of directors, become involved and connected with the alumnae network, and have a voice in the direction of the Alumnae Association.
If you are interested, please contact Wendy Sheehan ‘97 at wendy.Sheehan@comcast.net by November 11, 2005. Please include a resume and statement of interest. A nominations committee member will contact you directly.
