RHODE ISLAND BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION
MARCH 1, 2006
The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition announced it has received support from Citizens Bank and Edwards & Angell, LLP, bringing to 22 the number of local organizations providing financial and in-kind contributions to the 2006 competition.
Competition Co-chair Garrett B. Hunter said, “This broad base of support from private, public, and nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island demonstrates a strong shared belief in the goal of the competition, which is to foster development of new businesses.”
The 2006 competition will award more than $100,000 in prizes to two winners.
In contrast to most business plan competitions, which are affiliated with universities or colleges, the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition is supported by community organizations.
This year’s competition, launched last month, offers two tracks, one for entrepreneurs and another for students. In addition a number of free workshops are being offered to help participants submit their best plans.
Deadline to apply is March 1, 2006, with winners to be announced at the end of April. Complete information, including rules, application procedures, guidelines, and business plan resources, is available at www.ri-bizplan.com.
