I am delighted to share the wonderful news that the Simmons SOM has been ranked #3 among the management schools for its attention to Corporate Social Responsibility. The ranking is based on a student survey sponsored by Net Impact. Net Impact, a national organization for MBA students, has a mission is to improve the world by growing and strengthening a network of new leaders who are using the power of business to make a positive net social, environmental, and economic impact.
The SOM followed Bainbridge Graduate Institute, which offers an MBA in sustainable business, and tied with Duke’s Fuqua School of Business (not bad!). The SOM was ranked higher than other top-rated schools such as Yale SOM, Presidio School of Management, Kellogg, Boston College Carroll, Cornell’s Johnson School, UC Berkeley Haas, University of Michigan Ross, and UNC Kenan-Flagler.
I want to acknowledge the great leadership of our Net Impact chapter (students – Christina Martin, Mandy Osborn, Alex Pelletier and faculty adviser – Sylvia Maxfield) in helping us to achieve this recognition. Our students gave us high rankings in areas such as “program prepares students for ethical and socially responsible leadership” and “faculty and administrative support for ethical and socially responsible leadership.” Sylvia has provided excellent support and intellectual leadership to the Net Impact group and to our work on CSR more broadly. I have also sponsored MBA students to attend the national conference.
