MBA Office Updates Great news for the SOM on two fronts since last week! Mary Shapiro was interviewed on NECN about Sarah Palin and the SOM ranked #22 in the graduate category for Entrepreneurship by the Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine. We have eased you back into school and Comm Strat has actually started and ended already for many students! Many of you would be disappointed if I didn’t find an MBA analogy in the Tom Brady (quarterback for the NE Patriots football team) disaster that has him out for the season. So, here it is! As managers, one big test of the strength of your organization and your leadership is how and what you do when there is an unexpected “shock” into your system. What can happen-it can fall apart because no one was prepared for it, people rise to the occasion and show that they are ready to assume a leadership role because they have been training for this moment for many years, and you see how good your contingency plans of knowing this moment could happen at any time really are. What message you convey to your staff and the outside world becomes critically important as a leader and good organizations know that these shocks will happen and have plans to weather them on many fronts. It will be interesting to watch on Sunday!! Special Note from Mary D. to Accounting Evening Students Who Switched Sections Many thanks to all of you that changed your schedules and moved to the Wednesday night section for accounting. I know that changing evening schedules reeks havoc in many of your lives and I appreciate it very much. I know it was a good decision from both the teaching and learning perspectives, but your willingness to help me out without it becoming a scheduling nightmare was much appreciated. Thank you!! “Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going." --Unknown “Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another.” -- Walter Elliott Announcements Friday, September 26, 1-4pm Project Management Class with Professor Paul Myers to help with Marketing and Leading Projects.
