The mission of the Simmons School of Management is to educate women for power and principled leadership. Directions -- You can find directions to the main campus here: http://www.simmons.edu/overview/directions/ Campus Map -- You can find a main campus map here: Bookstore -- There is no longer an SOM satellite bookstore, you must go to the College bookstore for your textbooks, coursepacks, and store hours. The bookstore is located in the basement of the Main Campus Building (MCB), across from The Fens Cafeteria. Class locations: You can find your class locations on AARC: aarc.simmons.edu Faculty offices: all faculty are on the 3rd and 4th floors. There is a directory near the elevators in the first floor lobby. IDs: You are going to need to use your ID to get in and out of the garage to park if you buy parking cash or a parking pass, so remember to bring it with you!! MBA Resource Room on the 1st floor is reserved for MBA students only. Half of the study rooms will be held for MBA students, the other half for UG students to reserve We will be in contact with all of you soon about lockers!

A separate email is coming, but Mary needs students who are able and willing to meet with the accreditation team. We know now that the date for MBA students is February 23 rd from 6-7pm. Susan Hass is also willing to start class at 7pm for evening students that might want to participate. You will also be required to attend a prep session with Mary D that will be organized once we have a good mix of day, evening, and students from all tracks.This meeting will be important to really understand the importance of the visit to the SOM. If you are available from 6-7pm, on Monday, 2/23 and are interested in being part of the event, please email Mary D at mary.dutkiewicz@simmons.edu by January 31st. Knowing you all as we do, we believe that a lot of you will volunteer!!. We are also awaiting information on the format, and depending on what the site team requires, we may have to limit the amount of participation so that it is manageable. But, for now, if you are interested, available and believe that you can help us in this important event, we would love to have you!

The event will be held on the 5th floor of the SOM on Tuesday February 10th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. There will be a reception for all guests from 7:30-8:00 p.m. The event is free to all guests. Please refer to the SOM web site for more information on the event and to RSVP. I hope you plan to attend as well.
SOM STUDENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED… Please attend our informational session on Tuesday, February 3rd at 5:15–6:00 pm in SOM Case Room – M-222 (2nd floor). We will provide an overview of the conference and answer your questions. This informational session is designed to help you determine if you would like to volunteer. Following the meeting, you will have the opportunity to sign up. Volunteers are essential to our success. In exchange for your contribution, you will be permitted to attend the Conference FREE. (Conference fees are $450 for SOM students)

SOM Leadership Conference Date: Saturday, May 2, 2009 We need your support. Your time and effort directly supports the SOM. All proceeds raised by the Leadership Conference support the Simmons SOM MBA scholarship fund. Tuesdays, 11:30am-12:15pm Weight Watchers is hosting a 12-week session at the School of Management beginning Tuesday, January 27th in Room 337 (3rd Floor of the new SOM building). The 12-week session meets every Tuesday through April 7th from 11:30am-12:15pm and costs $156.00. Payment is due at the 1/27 meeting. If you are interested, please join us next week. NEW SOM COMMUNITY BUILDING WEEKLY EVENT FOR MBA, UG, FACULTY AND STAFF Start date: February 4 Little Known Fact
Little Known Fact is a new, free, weekly gathering by and for the students of the Simmons College School of Management that will be hosted by Beth Dunn, MBA student, ’09. A casual, fun, and friendly series consisting of brief presentations, fellowship, and food, Little Known Fact will bring together full-time and part-time MBA students of all cohorts, undergraduates, faculty, and staff Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the new School of Management building. SOM students have longed for a third place – not the classroom, not the bar – in which they could build real community and strengthen important relationships within the vibrant Simmons community. Little Known Fact will provide a consistent and compelling focus for this diverse community, by drawing on and celebrating the unique skills and talents of current SOM students. Each weekly gathering will feature a brief, five-minute presentation by a current SOM student, who will share her Little Known Fact – some hidden skill or talent that would otherwise go unnoticed in the fast-paced rush of the semester. After the presentation, attendees will ask questions and discuss their own experiences on the subject. Whether it’s How to hail a cab in six different languages or How to make a stunning necklace in 30 seconds, each session will present a lighthearted, but intriguing glimpse into the lives of our fellow students. No college gathering is complete without free food, so light fare, snacks, coffee, tea, and soda will be provided at each weekly session. Expand your horizons, learn new skills, and meet your SOM colleagues this Spring Semester at Little Known Fact, Wednesday afternoons beginning February 4 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm in the second floor lounge at the top of the stairs.
