MBA Office Updates

Note From Mary D.

Thanks to all students and staff who volunteered their Saturday to help work at the Leadership Conference last weekend. It was a great day by all accounts, inspiring as well as educational. With record attendance of over 3000 people, we couldn’t have done it without you. One of my proudest moments each year is walking into the registration area in the morning and seeing so many of you working and helping anyone that needed it. The clapping when you saw my shoes and suit was pretty funny too, I have to admit!!

I know that many of you were on your feet for hours and everyone was exhausted at the end of the day, but I hope it was a day that reminded you of why you came to business school, why you chose Simmons and renewed your sense of pride in your school. Thanks again for everything that each of you did to make the day such a success.

Quote of the Week - Inspired by the speakers at last weekend’s conference!

“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” --Jesse Owens

Schedule Reminders for Next Week

Saturday, May 12, Big Sister/Little Sister event, 9-12:30pm
Thursday, May 17, Employment Law, first class

Fall Registration Updates

The fall schedule is under construction and registration will be in early June!

Day Track Meeting Change

The Track Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 15th has been rescheduled to the following Tuesday, May 22nd at 3pm. Please adjust your schedule.

Memorial Day Hours

The SOM will be closed during the Memorial Day weekend. There will be no access to the SOM buildings Saturday, May 26th – Monday, May 28th.

Earthfest Volunteers Needed

We are looking for 2-3 MBA student volunteers for the SOM booth at Earthfest. The event is on Saturday, May 26th from 10am-6pm at the Hatch Shell. We can arrange shifts so each student is not there the full day (10-2 and 2-6). As an incentive for the 3 volunteers there is an offer from the radio station for a pair of tickets for any show that is not sold out at the Bank of America Pavilion, the Paradise or the Orpheum. We only have 3 sets so we would need to keep the volunteers to 3.  This is the website for more info on the day http://www.earthfest.com/. If you are interested in volunteering please send an email to Nicole at nicole.herrick@simmons.edu. If we get more than 3 volunteers we will do a lottery.

Temp Help Needed

Professor Sylvia Maxfield is looking for a current student with time on her hands to work about 30 hours a week for three weeks in the next five. We need someone with excellent phone skills, can think on her feet, and are highly organized and persistent. This is to help us get CSR leaders in Fortune 100 companies to take a short Zoomerang survey we have designed. We are offering $20 an hour for up to 100 hours. If you are interested please contact Jennie Morris at jennifer.morris3@simmons.edu

Public Safety Update

Sometime between 5:30pm on May 1 and 8:30am on May 2, there was another break-in within the SOM buildings, this time it was the Executive Education offices. All Executive Education offices were entered, drawers ransacked, and walkie-talkies were stolen. We are investigating this incident and if any one has any information that could help us, please let Karen or Mary D. know.
