Macintosh: Backing Up Your Address Book
This page contains instructions for backing up your address book. We suggest you back this file up to the file server.For instructions for connecting to the file server and locating your personal folder, see Mac OS X: Access Your File Server Folders.
Throughout this document, *words in italics* indicates the type of information that will appear, but what appears for you will depend on your own username, or hard drive name, etc.
Webmail
No backup necessary: your address book is already on the server.
Address Book (OS X Apple application)
- Open the Address Book application
- From the File menu, choose Back up Database. Make sure that the
triangle tab next to the file name is facing up.
- If you are on campus, navigate in the save box to your file server folder Users\*Username* Or, save your backup to any other storage media.
Entourage
Your address book is located in

Macintosh HD*\Users\*Username*\Documents\Microsoft User Data\Office X Identities\Main Identity\Mailing Lists
Copy this file to the server by dragging it to your personal file server folder.
Netscape 7
Your address book is located in

Copy this file to the server by dragging it to your personal file server folder.
Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird
- Click the Address Book icon
- From the Tools menu, choose Export
- If you are on campus, navigate in the save
box to your file server folder Users\*Username* Or, save your backup to any other storage media.
