Self-Help Clinics

In providing technical support, Technology's goal is to help members of the Simmons Community learn to care for their own computers. Self-Help Clinics are designed to give you direct access to Technology's expertise. We instruct students, faculty and staff in small groups, to troubleshoot and resolve software issues. We find that the most common problems people have with their computers can be solved by following the step-by-step instructions on our Disinfect & Protect site; you might give that a try before signing up for a clinic.

Please register by using the Report a Problem (or ask a question) form: from the drop-down menu choose "I am having a problem with my own computer: Clinic registration."  If you have lost your Internet connection, please register by calling the Help Desk at 617-521-2222. You may also come to a clinic without registering, but registrants will be served first.

You should bring your computer and the original CDs for any software that you suspect is causing trouble. Please note that to protect the manufacturer's warranty, as a general rule Help Desk technicians do not open, take apart, or install hardware components or install software on any personally-owned machine.

When you come to a clinic, you will be asked to sign a release form that indicates you understand the purpose of the clinic and take responsibility for your own computer.
